Year 3

DSC 4711

Home School Book
All children in Years 3 and 4 have been given a Home School book and reading book. Regular reading at home is an important part of each child's homework commitment and gives you the opportunity to keep in touch with the progress they are making. If you aim to complete 3 short sessions of approximately 20 minutes each week this is also an excellent way for children to gain team points and a credit after ten weeks reading.

Exploring Languages
Children in Year 3 will be making a start on foreign languages in 'Investigating Languages', whilst Year 4 children will be continuing their Spanish lessons.

Musical Opportunities
All of Year 3 will have the opportunity to play the recorder, these can be ordered from the school. Further details of musical opportunities in years 3 and 4 are detailed in this document, along with an order form for purchasing a recorder.

During the year each class will have a 6 week swimming session at the high school.

Art and Crafts
It would be helpful if each child keeps an Art shirt in school to protect their uniform during 'messy' activities such as painting and glueing. Either an old shirt or T-shirt will do, large enough to cover their normal clothing.

Finally, we would be grateful to hear from parents who can come in to the school to listen to children read, to assist with the library or to offer help in other curriculum areas (e.g. cooking, art, school trips). If you can spare an hour or so on any day during the week please fill in this slip and return it to your child's class teacher who will then contact you to make the necessary arrangements.

Thank you, The Y3
